|A Consultant’s Diary|
I run one-week retreats in Devon to help people become free and fulfil their potential. The retreats encourage vocal expression through singing and dancing, creative imagery through painting, outside the box thinking, and one to one counselling.
At the start of a retreat week, we envision together what you want to achieve by the end.
I work with vocal expression to find a voice, done in a fun way. Some things go deeper. We do an art session using crayon and paper. Using methods a child uses when s/he paints to create pictures from the inside out, on top of the spoken word from the vocal expression. Mid week I will discuss how the week is going with you.
An example of this is a client who remembered a past life experience, when she was a farmer in Poland (she was a man in this life). During the Nazi atrocities the family was killed and buried in a mass grave.
In the client’s current life, she was left with anger and depression, which was coming out in her marriage. She invited people to let her down. The client did a vocal roleplay with me, including doing a drawing of that event. The drawing included colours that reminded of the pain. But by then changing colours in the painting, turning them in a Shakra like way, and helping the client associate new feelings to her memory.
Activity is important, and the retreat includes spending time with nature on the Devon moors where we continue to express thoughts in a safe environment.
